Advanced orchestra
Advanced orchestra meets 3rd period. Advanced students from the intermediate or beginning orchestra classes may also participate in with this group during performances if they have learned the music and attended rehearsals for this purpose. The orchestra handbook contains course information, grading policies and performance expectations. Please also visit the tab for links to music and videos for music we are learning in class.

Practice records
Orchestra students are required to practice their music outside of class and to keep a record of that practice in their Panther Planners (listing for each day the amount of time spent and which songs were practiced). Practice records count as homework, which is 5% of the overall grade, and for about 40% of the student's work ethic grade. More importantly, if the student isn't practicing, he/she probably isn't going to keep up with the class or learn the music. To receive 100 percent, students must practice two hours per week (120 minutes) and practice at least 3 days per week. (Studies have shown it's better to practice 10 minutes a day than it is to practice once a week for an hour.)
Time is logged and totaled weekly. 10 points extra credit for parent signature acknowledging the totaled time.

Private teacher list
Private lessons are highly encouraged! Following is a list of private strings teachers compiled by WCSD orchestra directors. It is probably a bit outdated (created in 2012) and the district strings teachers are working to update it.
